Question Details: Why don't we have any desalination plants in the UK?
To date, desalination has been seen as an expensive option compared to other ways of developing water resources or demand management measures. Desalination is costly and can have high energy demands. However, increased water scarcity and technological improvements are combining to make this a potentially more attractive option in the future.
