IWO is licensed by the Engineering Council ECUK to register members as Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Engineering Technician (EngTech) depending on qualifications and experience.

Registration is open to anyone who can demonstrate competence to perform work to the necessary standards, commitment to maintain that competence, work within professional codes and participate actively within the professionHow to register
Consider the standards required for registration as CEng, IEng and EngTech and decide which one applies to you (you should discuss this with your line manager or another registered engineer).
Send a career history and details of education and training, together with a covering letter indicating your intention to apply for CEng, IEng or EngTech by post to IWOHQ, 4 Carlton Court, Team Valley, Gateshead, NE11 0AZ or by email to info@iwo.org.uk
We will advise whether you may proceed to Professional Review or if further learning is required. The current fee for undergoing Professional Review is £75. No further costs are payable until the next calendar year when the annual fees charged by ECUK will be added to your IWO subscription. These are currently £27 for CEng, £23 for IEng and £13 for EngTech
International Registration for Incorporated Engineers
Individuals registered in the UK as Incorporated Engineers (IEng) now have the opportunity to gain wider recognition for their particular skills and expertise. Provided they have the necessary qualifications and experience, they can apply for the newly created title of International Engineering Technologist (IntET), aimed at making it easier for holders to practise their profession overseas. ECUK is responsible for maintaining the UK section of the IntET Register.Anyone wishing to register can download an application form (Word or pdf) or contact IWO. All applicants should read the guidance notes (download) before completing the application form. Registration fees are £90, renewable every five years at a fee of £25. Cheques should be payable to IWO and submitted with the application form and supporting evidence outlined on the form.
