Utilities and Service Industries Training Limited (USIT) is a charity providing grants and bursaries for education and training for the utilities industries. There are currently four types of Award available:
Leadership Award
Sponsorship to attend a High Potentials Leadership Program at Harvard Business School
This award will support attendance at the above course to the tune of £15,000 and covers fees, economy travel and accommodation and £20 per day meal allowance (unless provided within accommodation). Other expenses or entertainment are excluded and employers may need to finance additional costs.
Management Award
Sponsorship of up to £15,000 for an overseas bursary at a suitable university or management institute of your choice
This award will support attendance at an overseas study course, e.g. the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland, which offers executive education programs for top management development and provides a real world learning experience. Alternatively, where they can be proven to be of benefit to a utility industry, secondments to other English speaking organizations overseas may be considered.
Business Skills Award
Sponsorship of up to £7,500 to attend an established academic or training course in the UK which is relevant to the Utilities Industry
This award is designed to assist individuals to benefit from opportunities that would not normally be available to them from their employer's ongoing training and development support arrangements. Awards will be made based on industry needs as assessed by the Trustees.
IWO Conference Award NEW
Sponsorship to attend the 2009 IWO Conference, 'Climate Change - Our Role in a Global Crisis'
The Sage Gateshead, 23-25 April 2009
This award is designed to assist water industry employees in their continuing professional development, with opportunities to hear from and meet high profile figures from the UK water industry. Sponsorship covers Delegate Fees plus an allowance of £100 towards accommodation. Not included are costs of travel or attending social events.
